The 25th Annual Lew Blond Memorial 5K Run/Walk is held to honor Lew Blond, a District 30 school teacher who passed away from Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) in February 2000. He was an exceptional and dedicated educator of the applied arts and was revered and cherished by his students, colleagues, and parents of the children he served.

Proceeds from this event benefit research through the ALS Foundation and are used for identified School District 30 projects. The Race also funds scholarships for former Maple School students who intend to pursue careers in education or the trades after graduating from Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools.

I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the course. I assume all risks associated with running and walking in this event, including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including low temperatures and/or wind chill, traffic and conditions of the road. All such risks being known and appreciated by me, having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of this entry I hereby for myself, heirs, executors and administrators waive any and all claims I may have for damages against The Lew Blond Memorial 5K Run/Walk, Northbrook/Glenview School District 30, Lakeshore Athletic Services and all sponsors and individuals associated with the event, their representative and successors, and assigns for any and all injuries suffered by me in connection with this event, including pre and post race activities.
