The Warrior 196 Memorial 5K Run/Walk honors and remembers five local alumni of the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Schools who lost their lives while serving in the US Armed Forces. The Warrior 196 Leadership Foundation uses the proceeds from the 5K to award scholarships to graduating seniors in the name of: CAPT Nathanael Doring, LCPL Daniel Olsen, CPL Benjamin Kopp, 1LT Christopher Goeke, and CPL Andrew Wilfahrt.

The Warrior 196 Leadership Foundation honors and remembers five young men, graduates of Independent School District 196 high schools, who gave their lives while serving in the US Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Warrior 196 Leadership Foundation provide scholarships to graduating seniors in the school district to pay forward the collective legacy of these heroic young men. The Warrior 196 Leadership Foundation also endeavors to provide leadership activities for local students.
