About the Gleason Community Fund John J Gleason, a native of Flushing, served in the Michigan State House and State Senate for 10 years. John was the first Michigan legislator to serve after a transplant. He ran dialysis for 6 months before receiving a kidney from his sister. This experience led John to create a one of a kind donation education nonprofit, the Gleason Community Fund. Sponsoring the DONATION NATION Race is near and dear to the nonprofits efforts to increase the need for organ, tissue and cornea donations.
