Did you know that during the 2016-2017 school year more than 70% of students attending Miami-Dade County Public Schools were registered for free- or reduced-price lunch? That's 249,260 students. Did you know that M-DCPS enrolled more than 3,000 students living in insecure housing situations who needed assistance for themselves and their families? It is for students like these that the Foundation for New Education Initiatives, Inc. (FNEI) was founded a decade ago. Besides helping to feed, clothe and shelter needy students, FNEI also supports initiatives that introduce students at every grade level to community arts venues, that equip students with wireless devices and schools with computer labs, and that provide students with valuable work experience through paid internships. Last year, more than 53,000 students directly benefited from FNEI supported initiatives, positively impacting their lives.
