Waiver of Liability: I, the undersigned participant, do hereby certify that I am aware and understand that the Elmhurst Running Club 4 on the 4th is a foot or road race, and that running and/or walking as a participant in a foot or road race is a strenuous physical activity which is potentially hazardous. I am also aware and understand that I should not enter a road race and run or walk unless I am medically capable of such strenuous physical activity, free from any physical impairment that would medically limit my ability to safely engage in such an activity, and that I have properly prepared for such strenuous physical exertion and gradually trained over an appropriate period of time. I assume all risks associated with running and walking in this event, including but not limited to: trauma resulting from falls, missteps, dehydration, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high temperatures, and traffic and conditions of the road surface, all such risks being known and accepted by me. Runners are responsible for recognizing that they are making the choice to run regardless of the conditions presented and/or the race officials' assessment of those conditions. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of this entry, I hereby for myself, heirs, executors, and administrators waive any and all claims I may have against the Elmhurst Running Club, Inc., (“ERC”) its officers, directors, volunteers, and committee members, the City of Elmhurst, Elmhurst College, the Elmhurst Park District, the USATF, the Chicago Area Runners Association, and all sponsors associated with the event, their representatives, successors and assigns, for any and all injuries, damages, and losses suffered by me in connection with or relating to this event, including but not limited to activities held both before and after the race. I agree to abide by all decisions of the race officials relative to the course. I hereby grant permission to Elmhurst Running Club, Inc. and its authorized agents to use my name, photographs, videotapes, motion pictures or digital images in connection with this event, including recording and publication of the results of my participation in this event. The Elmhurst Running Club 4 on the 4th race will not be rescheduled due to acts of nature or circumstances beyond the control of the ERC. The race entry fee is nonrefundable upon receipt by ERC and no refunds will be made.
